Dalbergia retusa

Cocobolo is a hard and heavy timber—a true rosewood with rich color and lots of figure. It grows in dry land tropical forests in Mexico and Central America. It’s popular with craftspeople and instrument makers. In recent years it has become an increasingly sought after species. Due to heavy demands from Asian markets Dalbergia retusa has recently been placed under cites restrictions. Despite our long association with this wood, we support the cites listing and hope that it will provide protection for this special tree. Currently we are offering a limited supply of turning stock, specially priced packs, and unique lumber.
